Player/Parent Code of Conduct Policy
- Parents may not coach players during practices or games. For your player to develop to the fullest extent, he/she needs to be focused on the coach’s instruction. Please refrain from yelling and/or directing players before, during, and after practices or games.
- There is zero tolerance of poor behavior for players, coaches, or parents. Parents and players are expected to know the rules, support the officials, and display good sportsmanship. Penalties will be assessed to parents or players who yells at or uses profanities at official, coach or player or commits any act which the Board of Directors deems inappropriate or damaging to a player, the team or program.
- Parents will utilize the Denton County Spartans Board for conflicts with the coaching staff. The board will be responsible for hearing grievances of parents on the team. Parents that are concerned about coaching instructions, discipline, etc., will contact the board after a 24-hour cooling off period. The board will address any issues brought before them with the coach.
- Display appropriate behavior and dress code at all times when representing the Denton County Spartans. If you are asked to leave a game, practice, or any association activity because of your behavior, you will do so immediately, and the Denton County Spartans Board will review the situation and assess any penalty, which could include suspension from practices and/or games or removal from the team.
- Attendance is mandatory at practices, fundraising events, community service projects and games. We encourage your player to participate in other sports. However, parents and players need to develop as a team. Therefore, attendance at all practices and games is required. If there is a need for the player to miss a practice or game, please discuss with the coach PRIOR to the absence. Accommodations can be made for travel programs and school activities/sports at coaches/board discretion. Unexcused absences may result in disciplinary action.
- Support the rules established by your team’s coach. Each coach will provide all players and parents on the team with a list of all team rules as well as those herein. Parents and players will acknowledge receipt of these rules, which will be understood and followed by all involved. In general, behavior such as fighting, foul language, temper tantrums on or off the ice, stick banging, and taunting (name calling, using racial slurs) will not be tolerated.
- Parents will not be allowed in the locker rooms unless assigned by the Board and possess the required individual background checks.
- When/if the team is traveling, coaches and board members are not responsible for management of the team off the ice. Players are expected to attend all team meeting and functions set by the coach and/or board. Parents may have another parent on the team assigned to their player to take care of them.
- All parents and/or players assume equal financial responsibility for any/all tournament fees in which the team participates whether or not the player participates individually.
- Players will not participate in unhealthy or illegal activities including the use of tobacco, consumption of alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs or steroids.
